چکیده

Abstract The current study aimed to assess the neuroprotective effect of Zn and Fe oxide nanoparticles biofabricated by Taverniera glabra in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. experimental animals (160–200 g) were divided into nine groups ( n = 9). blood glucose, body weight, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase test (CAT), lipid peroxidation (TBARS), glutathione (GSH), acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities determined. Oral administration T. methanol extract (TGME; 10 15 mg/kg b.w) significantly decreased glucose level, increased controlled quantitative level G6PD, levels ALT, ALP, cholesterol, creatinine. Moreover, TGME their restored antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, GPx, GSH) that during induced diabetes. In group, a significant increase TBARS was noted recovered p < 0.05) as compared glibenclamide. AChE activity both brain group 0.05). Taken together, it can be suggested improved memory could considered an effective biogenic nanomaterial for diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, oxidative stress.

Attenuation of Diabetic Nephropathy by Carvacrol through Anti-oxidative Effects in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats

Background and Objectives: Diabetes, a common metabolic disorder, is prevalent in many countries. Nephropathy is a main debate’s side effect. Role of oxidative stress is well known in induction of diabetic nephropathy while carvacrol is a potent anti-oxidant that might attenuate oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of carvacrol in d...

Hemolysis Induced by Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency and Its Association with Sex in Children

Background: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is the most common enzyme disorder in human. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of G6PD deficiency among children and evaluate its association with ABO/Rh blood groups. Method: Blood samples of 3401 asymptomatic children were analyzed and compared with 317 children who were admitted to hospital because of hemolys...

Effects of Pinus eldarica Medw. Nut Extract on Blood Glucose and Cholesterol Levels in Hypercholesterolemic Alloxan-induced Diabetic Rats

Background: Diabetes mellitus type 2 with dyslipidemia is a common disease. Previous studies suggest that chemical constituent present in pinus eldarica (P. eldarica) nut posesess antioxidant properties and positively affect glucose metabolism. However blood glucose and cholesterol lowering effects of P. eldarica nut have not been studied so far. Objective: The present study was undertaken to...

Anti-hyperglycemic Effects of Saffron and its Active Constituents, Crocin and Safranal, in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats

Background: Saffron is the dried stigmata of the flowers of saffron (Crocus sativus L., Iridaceae). Saffron and its major active constituents, crocin (crocetin glycoside), crocetin and safranal, have a variety of pharmacological effects including high antioxidant properties and crocetin has insulin sensitizing effect possibly due to its antioxidant activity. Oral crocin is not absorbed and is h...
